I just found this on my harddrive. Just before EOTC disbanded, I was in the planning stages of creating a new webisode series. It was going to tell the story of Lowcountry, from inception…to its lackluster unveiling. The following was to be a narration that was to accompany various clips and footage. It was going to start with an anonymous voice asking the question, “So, why hasn’t EOTC been out on the road supporting the new record?” Enjoy…

“Sometimes, people win the lottery. And everyone once in a while, someone gets struck by lightening. Sometimes, we catch the bad guy, and sometimes the innocent die, and…you get the picture. But, the picture doesn’t always make sense.

Six years ago, we vowed to devour films, records, drawings, oceans, people, places, arguments, grievances, the dirty and gritty, the warm and the invigorating, and to make sounds with all of that. We found out some people enjoyed hearing the noise we spewed out. So, we decided we’d keep doing it for as long as we can.

Now, that’s not always easy. You’ve got the bloodsuckers, the entrepreneurs, the choke artists, the sharks, the snakes, and a whole bunch of other obstacles to stand in your way. On top of all that, you’ve gotta compete with the bullshit artists…and everyone knows there are plenty of those these days. Just turn on your radio or your television.

We’re nomadic in nature, so we enjoy being out there on the road. But, you can make a cubicle out of anything these days. The key ingredients are a schedule, some uninspiring company and scenery, and a box that keeps you trapped. That schedule doesn’t have to be 9 to 5…it can be an itinerary that tells you what city you’ll be in tomorrow. The company and scenery doesn’t have to be an office on the 8th floor full of suits and ties; it can be the sights and sounds of cowardly men who go on stage every night selling gift wrapped packages with nothing inside of them. And that box…well lets just say that box can have 4 wheels too.

I know what you’re thinking…those spoiled little shits.

Nah, we’re not. We just do it differently. You have to these days. We’re doing things our own way. The people who listen to us understand that. They understand that we’re not a fucking Wal-Mart. We’re not a McDonalds. They understand that. I know they do.

What the hell was the question again?

Oh yeah. Why haven’t we been out on the road? Well, there’s a few simple answers to that question, but there’s a hell of a lot more complicated ones too. If we were to divulge any of them, we’d turn into a tabloid or a reality television show. But, we always feel obligated to give you something, since you always give us so much. So, we’ll give you a short answer to that question which will present you with a problem. Then I’ll follow it with our solution.

Lowcountry is virtually unknown. Certain forces have kept Lowcountry a secret to most. We know a few of you out there have it and cherish it. So, for those of you who are listening, we’re going to tell you the story of Lowcountry before it’s too late. In a series of videos that will be posted here on this website, we’re going to give it to you straight. You will see, first hand, what ingredients go into making a record that most people will never hear.”
